Benchmark Goals

What is it that you hope to know and be able to do at the conclusion of the class?
I hope to expand my knowledge of classical music and the evolution of music. This will help me understand pieces as I play them, as well as allow me to be better versed on the topic.

What are three things you would like to achieve in order to count your semester as successful?

I would like to 1) understand the "backbone" of music theory (why did they make the rules the way they did), 2) become better versed in classical music, and 3) be able to apply some of what I'm learning to the way I approach a piece of music.

How motivated are you to achieve these goals?

Very!! I am so excited to learn more about this topic and achieve my goals.

How will you increase your motivation if it becomes low during the course of the semester?

If I become lackluster in motivation a short break will allow me to refresh my brain and restart. Sometimes I just need to relax and breath and give myself space to recharge.

What strategies can you use to achieve your goals?

By rewriting notes, planning ahead in units, and keeping a schedule of mini self-made benchmarks I should be able to achieve my goals (and get all my work done on time).

What might interfere with your achievement and how can you prevent this interference?

College application and stress will come at some point and I'm expecting it to distract me in all of my classed to a certain extent. By planning out my time and setting many small goals I should be able to stay on task.
